Sayaka Yumi is the daughter of Dr. Gennosuke Yumi, head of the Photon Power Laboratory. She became the test pilot for Aphrodite A, a robot originally designed for geological research that was later adapted for combat.
Through her various appearances through the franchise, Sayaka usually occupies the role of love of interest and supports Koji and Mazinger Z in the battle against Dr. Hell.
