Omoide no K-kun is a 32-page comedy manga by Go Nagai in December 1979. It acts similar to a biography for inspiration for the creation of Mazinger Z.

- Go-chan: a character version of Go Nagai and a friend of K-kun, he goes through a series of different transformations before becoming the iconic chibi Go.
- K-kun: a friend of Go-chan and grandson of a nutty inventor, he served as inspiration for the creation of Koji Kabuto.
Synopsis[]
Third year junior high student Go-chan meets a young man by the name of K-kun. Walking to K-kun's house, he speaks about his grandfather and his inventions. On the way, Go-chan sees a strange old man. At the house, a strange noise is heard from the basement and the two boys go to check it out. In the lab, Go-chan is startled at a strange looking vehicle. K-kun's injured grandfather tells that the car can make K-kun a god or a devil and that he was attacked by the old man Go-chan saw who brought robots. K-kun got on the car and managed to drive the old man and his henchman away. With this over, Go-chan decided to draw a manga on the event making basing Koji on K-kun and the car on Mazinger Z.
