Juzo Kabuto (兜 十蔵, Kabuto Jūzō) is the grandfather to both Koji and Shiro Kabuto as well as the creator of the Mazinger Z, the finalized Great Mazinger, and the Mazinkaiser.
Appearance[]
Juzo's appearance in Mazinkaiser is based on his original manga appearance, with the burned and blinded left eye.
Personality[]
Much like the original manga, Juzo is brilliant yet somewhat insane scientist who takes great pride in his creations, seeing the Mazinger robots as the ultimate way for a person to become a god or a devil. Trusting his family with his life's work, he gives Koji the choice on how to use the robots.
Abilities[]
Juzo is one of Japan's most renowned scientists creating the Mazinger robots in a relatively short amount of time in seclusion all by himself as well as the alloys they are composed of.
History[]
It was mentioned at some point that Juzo was thought to be killed in the same way as the manga and anime. However, Juzo had gone into hiding and created the final version of the Great Mazinger, the Kaiser Scrander, and the Mazinkaiser. By the time he was finished, he disappeared again with it being undetermined if he died or not. As Koji came to his grandfather's secret laboratory after being transported by the Hover Pilder, a hologram of Juzo activates telling Koji about how he created the Mazinkaiser, how much more powerful it is than the other two Mazinger, and that it can give Koji the power to exceed a god and conquer the devil. After this the hologram disappeared with Juzo only being mentioned for the rest of the series.
Etymology[]
- The name Juzo means "ten" (十) (ju) and "warehouse, cellar, magazine" (蔵) (zo).
- Juzo's surname Kabuto means "helmet, headpiece" (兜).
