Diacus is a Superhuman Warrior Beast that appeared as the monster-of-the week along with Goberius in episode 8 of Great Mazinger.
Appearance[]
Diacus has a humanoid appearance with a blue body, clawed fingers, a mace for a right hand, limbs equipped with diamonds, a pair of diamonds on its chest, and sharp blades on top of its shoulders. Its true face is located on its forehead.
Abilities and Equipment[]
Diacus is able to fly short distances in battle. Its right hand is a chained mace that can be used in close to mid-range combat while it wields a large sword with its left hand. The diamonds on its body provide protection from heat and can reflect energy attacks. It can also attack with beams from its eyes and reassemble itself if its body if it collapses.
History[]
Diacus was launched by General Julicaesar just after Goberius started to attack Venus A. He uses his chained mace to open a hole in Venus' abdomen, knocking her down. He is about to finish Venus with his sword when Boss Borot appears and threws a rock on him, knocking him down.
Jun recovers and uses her Photon Beams, but Diacus' diamond body has the ability to reflect energy attacks, blinding Jun and rendering her unconscious. Again Diacus tries to finish Venus with his sword, but is interrupted by Boss Borot, who jumps to attack him. Diacus uses his sword to impale the heroic robot and attacks him with his eye beams.
Boss Borot is saved by Great Mazinger, who appeared and kicked Diacus.The Great tosses Diacus into the air and tries to use his new Drill Pressure Punch, but the Warrior Beast reassembles itself. Tetsuya tries with the Breast Burn, but Diacus reflects the attack and hurls his chain mace at the Great's legs, throwing it to the floor. Tetsuya recovers and Jun grabs Diacus from the back. He uses the Drill Pressure Punch to destroy Diacus' chain mace. Boss Borot joins the fight again and cuts Diacus in the chest with his own sword, disabling his ability to reflect energy attacks.
Tetsuya leaves Diacus to Venus and Boss Borot and flies to rescue Dr. Kabuto. Boss throws Diacus's sword into the Warrior Beast's head, destroying his true head, and Venus uses her Photon Beams to finally destroy Diacus.
Trivia[]
- Diacus was the the first Warrior Beast not defeated by Great Mazinger (TV series anyway), and was in fact the first defeated by Boss Borot.
- When Diacus defeats Venus A just before he impales Borot with his sword, he "laughs" the same way KingDan X10 did as in Mazinger Z.
